Beauty - What & Who decides it?

An incident in a girl's life reflected many things in my mind..
The girls's skin is very dark (black) in color but she looks like a doll! some of her friends used to tease her with this color complexion but many appreciate her as black beauty!

2 years ago - In school, they were asking for girls to welcome guests for their annual day. The notice came to her class. The teacher picked up girls who looked fair (as we colloquially call white). There were some 4 to 5 girls selected by the teacher. Our girl stood up in curiosity:
Our girl: Mam what about me? shall i join?
Teacher: No this is for welcoming guests. you may not be apt! we need beautiful girls.
Our girl: But, Mam, my neighbours tell me that i look pretty as doll.
Teacher: Yeah Might be! But we want real beautiful  (fair) girls.

Our girl kept quiet! After the class, she met her teacher in lunch time:
Teacher: See, you cant join them! why do you trouble me again and again?
Our girl: Is being white called beautiful?
Teacher: That's how our society interprets.
Our girl: Oh, Then why did you teach us some years ago, Cleopatra as black beauty?
The teacher was stunned!
Our girl: You did teach us some things:
             1. Personality is not in outer looks
             2. Beauty is something from heart and mind and not only on appearance
So, are all these just for exams?
Teacher: I can understand but I am helpless! Usually we select fair looking girls for welcoming guests.
Our girl: Then please say your requirement clearly and dont hurt us like this! Sorry Mam! You require fair girls and not beautiful girls right?
Teacher: See, fair ones are beautiful always. They steal the attraction of the crowd!
Our girl left the place. She developed a complex that black is not a favorable color in the society.

She completed her schooling and joined college a year ago!
The college had a grand celebration for their Chairman! Same incident again! White girls were called in to stand in reception. This time, our girl didnt make any effort coz she knows she is not worth enough as per her society.
1 week later, an announcement was made in class:
Office Manager: We need donors with O-ve blood group. Very urgent!
3 girls raised! Our girl and two 'white' girls.
They went for check up in the hospital!
Doctor: Only 1 girl can give blood!
Doctor pointed out our girl for blood donation. After donating blood, our girl went to Doctor.
Our girl: Why did you select me as the donor and not the other two?
Doctor: Actually 2 of you were eligible! You and one 'white' girl. But her parents are not ready for it. So, you were chosen.
Our girl: What about my other friend?
Doctor: She is not eligible to give blood. She is anemic. She is not healthy too. You can see her - she looks pale and dull.
Our girl: Oh Doctor, she is the most beautiful one in our class!
Doctor: (With a smile) Even you look beautiful
Our girl: No, my school teacher told this! Black is not beauty, only white!
Doctor: Look, both of your friends are white, but one of them is healthy! The other one is not. and she is pale too. Beauty doesnt lie with color. It lies in the deeds we do, thoughts we have, the attitude we possess and character with which others approach us!
Our girl: Hahah.. It seems good! A doctor knows about beauty better than my teacher! Thank you doctor! I was positive towards me some years ago! But now a days, I have negative vibration in me!
Doctor: You have saved a life! You deserve the name 'Beautiful' than anyone else in your class and college!!
Our girl left the room with a smile!

Most of us would have come across this incident during our school / college days when they select people for stage performance or welcoming guests. When some of my friends came forward, they were rejected stating they are not beautiful! To my eyes, they were extremely beautiful irrespective of their color.

I dedicate this to people who think color complexion is an obstacle in this society!
Your life is because of your thoughts, attitude, character, behaviour, good habits and deeds..

Hope some teachers understand the pain of students! They need to bring a change in the students' attitude towards color complexion! Coz it all starts from school / college as it happened for this girl.
Thanks for reading!!
